Getting Comfortable with Uncertainty
As we move into the next phase of our coworking journey, tiptoeing out of a crisis environment, it’s important to set expectations carefully and realistically.
Let’s face it: most of us are not going to be at pre-pandemic levels until 2022. But that’s only a little bit longer to hang in!
Perhaps you were able to pay reduced rents for a while. See if you can step them back up gradually. It may be a hard discussion with your landlord, but it’s important to face. You probably can’t pay full rent for another few months.
Maybe your staff were on reduced hours. You might want to spend the revenue you have on increasing their hours since that’s likely to increase income further, and they probably really need it.
Consider Brokers to Help Rebuild Your Space
Perhaps you didn’t work with aggregators or brokers much in the past. They are more work, but some of the biggest companies are looking for coworking space for their employees, and they are used to working through brokers. You may need them right now to help build your space back up more quickly.
Don’t Give Up on Your Workspace!
But whatever you do, don’t give up at this stage! Have you taken a step back to think about where you’ve come over the last year and a half? Your sales may have dropped 50% or more, but they are probably starting to climb. Are you hearing the hum of your workplace thriving again and seeing the smiles of people happy to see each other again?
We certainly are!
But we’re being cautious. And optimistic. And smiling again.
